The History of the Practice

The Rodney Street Practice was started by osteopath Eleanor Barlow in the 1960's and was originally in number 39. Peter Lloyd, who also worked in Wallasey, joined in 1970 and stayed until 1993. In 1976 Christina Parsons moved back from London, buying out Eleanor Barlow, who left to concentrate on her North Wales Practice, and her golf club, shortly afterwards.

In 1979 the Practice moved to 88 Rodney Street. Over the years many other osteopaths have worked in the Practice and contributed to its character. Many of them still work locally in their own practices. Others are as far away as Australia. Margaret Lavender joined the Practice in 1982, replacing Farooq Khan, who sadly died in 2001. Christopher Dixon replaced Peter Lloyd and worked with us until 2003. Alison Bellamy worked with us for eight years, leaving in 1998 to have a baby, and was replaced by Andrew Woodhouse, who now works in his own practice. Fionnuala Murphy joined us in 2002 when Kay Barker left to build up her practice in Southport. Angus Wood joined the Practice briefly.
